Spanish qualifier wins Estrellas Poker Tour Malaga

Wednesday, 6 April 2011

The latest leg of Spain's Estrellas Poker Tour took place over the weekend with local qualifier Antonio Dieguez taking the title.

Dieguez outlasted a field of 375 runners at the Torrequebrada Casino to take home a first prize of €81,500 as well a seat in the EPT Barcelona Main Event. The Spaniard, who beat Canadian Michael Carter heads up, has come close to tournament glory before finishing second behind Briton Keith Johnson in the inaugural Eureka Poker Tour event in Prague last month. Dieguez made no mistake this time though.

"I felt stronger at the final table,” said the delighted winner, “Carter is a very tight player and he was not pushing. Winning this event is a dream come true for me."

The next Estrellas Poker Tour event takes place at the Mediterraneo Casino, starting on 26 May. Qualifiers are currently running at PokerStars.
